Flash Back – Crown Hotel Wedding Photography
After meeting in 2006 at work where the couple simply clicked, Jonathan popped the question to Karen on a weekend away in Yorkshire almost ten years later. Like a true romantic, he took her on a mysterious tour with letters and clues hinting to their next destination. When they finally arrived at ‘Austwick Hall’ in the Yorkshire Dales, Jonathan Dale found his moment. He handed Karen the final clue, and she turned to find him down on one knee in a sea of bluebells. Obviously Karen said yes, (who wouldn’t?!) and they spent the evening celebrating in a fancy pagoda with champagne!
It is little surprise to us then that after such a sweet proposal story that the Mrs. Dale to be would be up all night before her wedding day! It’s a good thing that she poked her maid of honour out of bed at six in the morning for coffee, and even better that she’d hired ‘Harriet Thacker’ to do her makeup because despite not sleeping one wink, there wasn’t an under eye bag to be seen! What’s your secret, Karen?
Speaking of secrets, how about that sneaky phone call Karen made to Jonathan before the wedding? Isn’t that against the rules, you two? Oh, go on then. We’ll let it slide!
But how gorgeous do the happy couple look on their big day? Karen had the classic something new, old, blue and borrowed as a part of her ensemble, and the strapless sweetheart dress is from ‘Be Envied Bridal’ in Bawtry. After searching high and low, Jonathan’s snappy suit finally came to them from ‘ASOS’, and they paired it with a personalised ‘Saville Row’ shirt. Doesn’t he look swish? The final touch was a single bluebell attached to his lapel, a gentle reminder of his lovely proposal.
Karen was feeling pretty zen on the day…well, up until everyone started to get dressed, that is! With girls here, there and everywhere Karen needed everyone (including a certain South Yorkshire wedding photographer!) to pitch in with lassoing them together to get their hair, makeup, and accessories styled. Everyone had a little something different done with their hair, thanks to ‘Harley’s Hair & Beauty’, and the spingly-spangly bridesmaid’s dresses came from ‘QUIZ’. But despite the frenzy, it was only when the flowers arrived that Karen finally shed a few happy tears. ‘Jessica’s Flowers’ made her a special heart shaped bouquet made from white hydrangeas to fit in with the theme of the wedding.
The wedding took place in ‘The Crown Hotel’ in Bawtry, where they made use of their in house DJ and catering services. Although the ceremony went by in a blur for Karen, she remembers being so happy that they were finally man and wife. They used ‘The Beautiful Company’ for their rings, and several people close to them did readings in honour of their big day.
The couple opted for a more relaxed ‘Snazzy Sandwich’ menu over a roast dinner to maintain a laid back atmosphere, just like themselves! But let’s not forget the most important part, of course, the cake! It was crafted by ‘Amazing Floral Sugar’ cake shop, and it must have been delicious as everyone snaffled it up before the bride could even have a piece!
The reception room was decorated by ‘White Rose Occasions’, with final touches by the couple themselves. They kept some photographs close by to remind them of those who were no longer with them, they had games for the guests to keep them from scrolling through Facebook all day, and the dining tables were named after where Jonathan and Karen had met, where they had travelled together and finally their honeymoon destination. Thank Goodness they’ve been to lots of nice places!
Although the groom himself admits he’s not a big fan of dancing, he joined his new wife on the dancefloor for some modest swaying where they had a private moment to talk to just each other about what an amazing day it was. The bride then had a first dance with her son who we’re going to embarrass right now by telling you that he was ‘totes emosh’.
The following day they travelled to Mauritius for two glorious weeks of sunshine, speed boat hopping and yummy food! I think I know a Doncaster wedding photographer who’s feeling a bit jealous!
All in all, the bride can only use one word to describe her big day: Amazing. Every single step of her day went as smooth as butter. The newlyweds were surrounded by the most important people in her life, the food was perfect, they played games and danced the night away. Could we ask for anything else?
